No Visits are allowed to defaulters of UAE

The banks and Financial institutions are not authorized to conduct visits to the place of work or residence. Once their customer is a defaulter it was common practice to send collection agents to them. From January of 2022 the banks are not allowed to conduct visits to the customer’s home or place of work. Unless you have given written permission to the bank that they can come and see you. Even with your permission, the visit has to be conducted between 8Am to 7Pm as a result the UAE banks have stopped visiting the defaulters in UAE. This was the biggest tool that the banks used to scare and humiliate the defaulters in UAE.

Can I travel to other countries if I have a pending loan or credit card in the UAE?

Yes you can. As long as the flight does not transit through the UAE. In some cases the travel ban is applicable all through the GCC. Which means that a person with a pending liability can be held up in Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi, Oman. Other than the GCC there is no blanket travel ban that puts you on a blacklist all over the world.

How can I go back to UAE (or GCC) without paying the credit card or loan in UAE.

There are multiple options for someone who cannot close their liabilities and want to travel. These options differ widely depending on the bank and product type and several other factors. We would advise you to take your complimentary consultation and have your questions answered and learn your options for the same,

Interpol case for unpaid loan in UAE or unpaid credit card in UAE.

Uae banks and their third party agents claim to have filed an interpole case against you. This is seldom the case and is easier said than done. We have to understand that interpol has more important cases and criminals to deal with. There are murderers and terrorists and drug traffickers that need to be put behind bars. The only time when interpol will get involved is when the amounts involved are in the 10s of millions and have multiple banks involved. Even in such cases there has to be a clear judgment that the customer is guilty of intentional default or fraud or money laundering. Only when such a judgment has is passed where there is a jail time of more than 6 months can the banks approach Interpol to pursue the defaulter.

How many years can a cheque bounce case be active in the UAE?

There are instances where the defaulter is apprehended after fifteen years of the original case being filed . There is no specific law that says they have to dispose of the case within a certain number of years. It is completely the bank’s prerogative as to how many years the case has to be active. Also because there is no additional charge to the bank to keep an individual on the blacklist. If you have to travel or pass through the GCC it is best if you check for the travel ban before traveling. As in most cases where you have a pending liability the bank will filed a criminal case because of which have a travel ban. It is better to approach the bank to close the liability before entering the UAE.
